Professional taste buds
are a serious business. It takes years of training, tasting and travelling before our trainee coffee buyers get to drop the ‘trainee’ from their titles – and they never stop learning. Our coffee experts have decades of experience seeking out the very best beans from the world’s best growing regions. And only by tasting hundreds of coffees every day are they able to select a handful which meet their standards.
We’re a Yorkshire family business
devoted to the craft of outstanding coffee and tea. It’s important to us that we love what we make and can be proud of it. We do things properly, without shortcuts, showing care and respect to everyone along the way – from the people who grow it to the people who drink it. Since 1886, that’s been right at the heart of our company, and we think it shows.
We’re serious about flavour.
Two members of our coffee buying team are professional 'Q Graders' – an internationally recognised coffee tasting accreditation still held by only 40 people in the country. And we go to great lengths to make sure your coffee is truly fresh – it takes just six seconds for us to grind the beans straight into the pack and seal it.
Taylors is built on great relationships
– and whether they’re brand new or decades-old, we’re always in it for the long term. All our coffee is independently certified, and we work closely with the Rainforest Alliance, the Fairtrade Foundation and UTZ Certified. Our buyers regularly travel to visit the farms and co-operatives that supply our coffee, get to know our suppliers personally, as people, and stay in touch by phone and email – so those relationships are real and sustainable.
It's all about
doing things properly – from the way it’s grown to the flavour in your cup. We've been devoted to that idea since our founder Charles Taylor first went into business with his sons, over 125 years ago.
